For my figurative work, I draw my inspiration from memories of people in my life currently and my past. My passion is the human form combined with my memories of my past, which are mostly images in my mind and the connected memories have been forgotten. I most often remember the feel of someone’s skin, its contours and warmth, and colors that surrounded them, but due to many years passing I have lost the complete memory and all that is left is the image of that person in my mind.
I have found that working in Encaustic (bees wax, damar resin and pigment) has been so rewarding and allows my art to be experienced in a tactile manner as well as with one’s eyes.
