My background is in photography having worked for many years with professional still life, fashion and editorial photographers. This experience gave me an eye for composition, colour and movement.
This evolved into the love of art and I studied fine art and sculpture at Amersham Art College on courses and workshops over a period of 14 years. I am now based at Queen’s Park Art Centre for sculpture and with the Oldham Group in Great Missenden for painting.
For my paintings I favour working in mixed media, loving the vibrancy of acrylics as well as the translucency of water colour glazes. I have a broad subject matter incorporating landscapes, still life and life drawing.
My ceramic sculptures are mainly figurative. They are hand built and unique. My work is biscuit or stone fired and is finished either with glaze or patinated by hand to achieve the desired depth of colour and finish.
Travel provides much of my inspiration, absorbing the culture, architecture and colour in different parts of the world. In particular the African culture has been an influence both in painting and sculpture.
