During her career, Margaret has won a long list of prizes, including the National Portrait Gallery BP Award 1980. Her most recent prize was The Dry Red Press Award 2021 at the RBA Annual Exhibition for her still life painting ‘Seaside Festival Tulips’.
Her work can be seen in The National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Museum Canterbury and in many of the countries universities and colleges including St John’s College, Oxford, Downing College, Cambridge, The University Of Cardiff. Her portrait of The Very Reverend Alan Webster hangs in St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
Margaret says “I paint portraits, animals, still life and landscapes to commission. In portraits, I prefer to paint my sitters from life and in their own surroundings. I take careful note of any suggestions from my sitters about how they wish to appear in their portrait. Recently when painting portraits, I have successfully used photographs because of the COVID restrictions.”
