The Bough
This is a photo of an installation of a video recorded in the woodlands of Buckinghamshire projected onto a cut polystyrene sculpture of a woodland frieze.
The title refers to the children’s lullaby “Rock-a-baby, in the treetop, when the wind blows, the cradle will rock, when the bough breaks; the cradle will fall, and down will come baby, cradle and all”. I have one version of the video with my voice singing the last line of the lullaby. I was thinking of the fragility of life and how children depend on their parents and if parents fail to protect them, the child is endangered. Perhaps I was also thinking of man’s responsibility to protect the environment.
