Wind Wood
I love the shape of these twisted trees which seem to be swaying in the wind; I love that this is not one tree but an interconnected woodland, as forester Peter Wohlleben discusses in his book “The Hidden Life of Trees”.
The work is based on woodlands near Chinnor Hill, Buckinghamshire, England that I drove through on my way to study at Bucks New University, a truly magical place! The title suggests not only the movement of the trees in the wind but also the sound. I took this photo by placing the work in my garden in Haddenham where the mirror finish stainless steel reflected the images and the metallic paint of the background reflected the changing light of the garden. The work itself changes depending on where it is hung and the changing light of the day. The work is in a private collection in England.
