Fetching a Pale of Porter
By tim bradford
Bridey Fitzpatrick, who farms up the road, tells of hay cutting time in a previous era. As a young girl she would be sent up the road to T. Williams, the small bar cum shop at a crossroads on the coast road, where she would buy a pale of porter for the workers. The bar, now derelict, still stands, waiting for someone with piles of cash and a love of old fashioned pub culture to do it up…
The model (and creative director) for this picture was my eight year old daughter, Cathleen.
