When you have a beautifully cut, faceted stone, you want a setting that enhances it, without hiding those pretty edges. This ring design allows you to set your stone in such a way that you are able to see the flowing wirework through it.
Oval, Marquise or round facet cut stones work best, but you can adapt the design for any shape once you have mastered the technique, including square or diamond.
This tutorial includes instructions at the end for calculating wire lengths for different sized rings and stones. The materials listed below are based on a 10 x 8 mm oval facet stone and a up to ring up to UK size L, US size 5 ½.
As with any written instruction, please read through at least once before starting.
