Gerry Francis - Captain of England (in 1976)

This was originally yet another painting of Rivelino but I was banned from doing more Brazil pictures by the Institute of Brazilian Football Folk Art in Rio*, who said I needed to let someone else have a go. The simple thing would have been to turn Rivelino into Terry McDermott. Or even late period Kenny Sansom**. Or Mick Mills. However, for some reason Gerry Francis appeared. Maybe I spilt some black paint and decided to use it up on his hair.
