Auroura Borealis, My Alabaster Palace

You’ve got to admire Johnny Mercer for rhyming Aurora Borealis with Alabaster Palace. I want to see how far I can break a landscape up, whilst retaining it as a landscape, but it not to become a total journey into abstraction which sometimes seems too easy to do, or fall into. With this comes the playing around with a pictorial space and generating almost a theatrical set like space in a way

My work is driven by a fascination with the changing world, contemporary culture and the history of art. These are often mixed together in what I want to be a spontaneous blend of images rich in cultural references, I hope held together by passages of pure painting and lyrical colour in a "new representationalism"
