Briarwood Oak (Arbre de Chêne au Texas)
This work is based on an Oak tree behind my childhood home in Texas that I used to climb to escape from the things that children so often need to escape from. I found a refuge there and I have always loved being in the company of trees. This work is spray paint on cut paper mounted in a shadow box with a metallic painted background. As the viewer moves and the light in the room changes the shadows in the work move creating the sensation of being in the midst of the woodland. This work is mounted behind museum quality non-reflective glass.
