Ananda - Bliss - Neck Torc - Copper, Purple Druzy Agate, Amethyst and Amechlorite, Celtic Torq or Torque

Ananda - Bliss - The condition of utter joy! This Torc, made in my favorite colour - purple, with my favorite metal to work with - copper, was pure pleasure for me to work on, so this seemed the only fitting name!

An asymmetrical neck torc which has a beautiful large drop shaped piece purple druzy Agate as the focal point, which I have encased in sweeps of copper wire. Sitting next to this is a lilac Amethyst oval, which compliments the colours of the druzy Agate. The flowing lines of copper wire continue around this stone. The smooth wire is accented with sweeps of copper beads of graduating sizes. The shape of the focal stone is balanced with 3 hammered swirls of copper wire, small sections of these swirls have been hand woven with very thin copper wire, adding intricate detail.

The other side of the Torc has 3 Amechlorite (Amethyst and Chlorite) stones of graduating sizes, which perfectly echo the colours of the druzy Agate and provide balance to the design. These stones are surrounded by sweeping lines and swirls of copper wire.

The neck torc is made with very thick copper wire, which I have hand forged, to form the supporting frame for the whole piece. hammering it all the way round, to strengthen it. I have then hammered a textured detail over the whole piece, adding a contrast in textures to the round and smooth, flowing lines of the detail.

The Torc has an inner circumference of 15 1/2”, it can be opened, to make it larger. The detail on the right measures 5 1/2” long, from the bottom of the stone, to the end of the coils of wire and 1 2/3” tall from top to bottom of the wirework around the druzy Agate stone. The wirework on the left measures 2 1/3” from the bottom of the largest stone to the end of the coils of wire and 1” tall from top to bottom of the wirework around the stone.

I have lightly oxidised this piece to highlight the detail.
