Let's Face it...Or not 1
‘Let’s Face it…Or not 1’
August 2016
This work of art is striking for its originality and audacity. On a sky blue background five enigmatic figures rise in an indefinite space and cover their eyes, immediately creating a surreal atmosphere. The face of each figure is captured by a distinct abstraction, where patterns of red and white dots cover what could be the head or face. These patterns evoke a sense of stoicism and uniformity, while emitting a hypnotic vibration. The most striking element is undoubtedly the bright red mouth of each figure. Open and expressive, they seem frozen in a silent cry or an exclamation, adding a powerful and disturbing emotional dimension to the work. This chromatic contrast accentuates the feeling of strangeness and anguish, evoking a silent but eloquent narration. This work arouses both questioning and contemplation, questions our perception of the collective and the individual, the visible and the invisible, while exploring the themes of the mask and identity.
