Plums in Grey and Blue Bowl

This still life is in part the result of a process whereby I apply a very thick layer of impasto (in this case, on the front and bottom of the bowl) and then, dissatisfied with that, scrape most of it off with a knife - which often leaves interesting marks on the canvas that I could not have made directly by brush or knife.
