Newcastle Beach County Down
The view is southward across the beach to a foothill of the Mournes (which leads up to Slieve Donard, the highest mountain in Northern Ireland) “where the Mountains of Mourne sweep down to the sea” - that being a line from arguably the most famous ballad by Ireland’s most famous balladeer Percy French (who was also a famous watercolorist!)
