Digitus Medius
‘Digitus Medius’
October 2016
Digitus Medius is a surreal portrait of a nude woman on a blue background.
Half of the portrait shows her face with eyes closed. A hand covers, or uncovers, the other halve of the face which is black and white with a stern look.
The folded hands have metal claw nails. The left middle finger is stretched pointing up.
The face and body, strong and scarred, are semi transparent and show different juxtaposed layers; bones, skin and tattoos.
The composition is a mixture of paint, transfers and collage.
The transferred images, the tattoos, are from vintage magazines.
The face is a paper collage; an authentic illustration from a vintage magazine.
Mixed media composition on 89 x 116 x 2 cm canvas.
Acrylic paint, ink and paper.
Varnished and signed, this work is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
