Obelisks -Richmond Old Deer Park

Obelisks -Richmond Old Deer Park

The two obelisks were part of Kew Observatory built for King George III. There are four in total. One is on the golf course that surrounds the observatory. The other sits sadly, in a vandalised state in the middle of the Old Deer Park. Drawn from a photo taken at dawn and at the time of a spectacularly high tide,There wasn’t the time to draw from life in my normal way.
