The Lady Vanishes (Hitchcock 1938)
By ALAN WHITE
This edition of 27 four colour lino reduction prints is based on a still from the film. Margaret Lockwood plays a young woman travelling aboard a Trans-Continental Express. She strikes up an acquaintance with a middle-aged governess who mysteriously vanishes. This was a fine spy drama and one of Hitchcock’s most popular British made films, shot at a time when the Second World War was becoming virtually inevitable.
I use traditional relief printing methods. The prints were made at the BIP fine art print studios in Kemp Town Brighton. The Columbian printing press used for the work dates back to the 1840s
