Moon Over Moors

This is a memory painting based on frequent winter night walks around the valley where I live in the North Pennines. The moon is a regular presence and is quite different in winter from summer being more assertive and lively in winter. It takes on many guises but is never quite the same on any two occasions. I like the way its gentle yellow or lemon yellow light alters the look of the clouds as it hides or reveals itself among them. The moon is definitely a character not just a pretty face but its mood changes constantly. I never know how it will appear to me but I miss it when its not there or totally hidden by thick cloud.
