Still Life With Red Amaryllis And Sicilian Jug

I painted the red amaryllis with energetic and often rapidly applied brushstrokes and knife marks in order to capture the energy of this remarkable plant and endeavour to capture the subservience of the other objects to it.  (In the process a tube of paint appears to “sit up” in s manner of an intoxicated person awakened suddenly from his torpor.)
