Wolf upon ball finial

Having spent a few weeks sketching and getting to know the wolves at the wolf conservation site in Beenham ( near Newbury), I decided that it wold be an interesting exercise to take the wolf out of it s wild environment and place it in the disciplined and formal world of architectural mouldings . Producing a ball finial beneath the wolf was a challenging undertaking !
The sculpture was ultimately bought by the wolf sanctuary and stands in the front garden there. Sadly the venue is no longer open to the public.
