Tapton and King Edwards

This is painted from a panorama shot of children coming back from school across the playing fields. I’m pleased with this on a technical level; getting the contrast to cohere and working with the skewed perspective of an iPhone pano shot. I’m interested in the historical use of optics in fine art. Look at Vermeer’s Girl with a Red Hat; so obviously from an optical image.
I’m also very pleased with the mood in this painting; a very Northern European scene that suggests melancholy, vulnerability and a cold and wet drudge back home.
