Daffodils
I was out taking my ‘daily exercise’ shortly after this strange new world of self isolation began, when I encountered this patch of daffodils. They affected me greatly at the time, seeming to proclaim their place in the world in spite of the human devastation around them. As we have been consumed by the concerns and outrages that this pandemic has imposed upon us, here was this pool of nature, carrying on its existence, oblivious to and regardless of our worldly worries.
So I drew them. Each section a separate iPad drawing and each an observation of the light falling onto their leafs and flower heads. Each section also, a recognition that even in this darkest of times, the seasons will move on inexorably and the Summer will eventually arrive!

About the artist
My work is currently being produced through drawing onto an iPad. The images are created by breaking down the composition into sectors, each of which is then drawn onto the iPad. I then download the images and create the final picture by attaching the images together. The gaps left between the images create a grid effect which is sometimes determined by the composition of the landscape and sometimes determined by the distribution of detail in the image.
