Poster advertising outdoor art classes at Castle Eden Dene wood

These classes were the first one I ever taught and started in winter carrying on until late summer. They were more successful than I imagined and I met some wonderful local people. One man, Peter Elliot seen in the poster, had been a miner at nearby Easington Colliery and one day he took me over there and introduced me to some friends and ex-colleagues who were mothballing the mine prior to demolition. This introduction led to a year long project there drawing the mine as it was slowly demolished. History in the making.
