The mural starts to extend.

The mural was created by progressively unrolling from the right as we voyaged further south but had to be rolled up from the left so that only about 3m was visible at any one time. Areas were reworked based on different discussions and ideas from the scientists and crew. Peollke were encouraged both to paint directly and to make drawings or even just suggest ideas and changes. All contributions were taken seriously, even silly ones, but the focus was on the nature seen in the sea and sky, the expedition science, people, mythic equatorial gods and the geographic representation of the voyage.
