Gangaramaya Temple, Colombo
The Gangarameya Vihara, founded by the placid waters of Beira lake over one hundred and twenty years ago, is a Buddhist temple complex with imposing buildings behind a high wall decorated with dwarves, symbols of prosperity. Its main features include the monastery, the dagoba, the boi tree, a stepped bank of seated buddhas and the shrine room. It is a centre for education and has a museum and a collection vintage cars.
