Carita Sisters
“Carita Sisters”
March 2021
Triptych; 3 works each 20x20cm framed in 25x25cm wooden frames.
This minimalist black and white triptych can be read as a short story but each element is also an unique artwork on its own.
The black and white photographies are by Harry Meerson, a French fashion photographer, for Carita, 1970; the cuttings are from a 1981 photography magazine; ’ Zoom’.
The ripped black and white paper small portraits added to these black and white images are details of a photo from a 1950’s ‘Match’ magazines.
The Carita sisters, Maria and Rosy, built an empire and revolutionised the world of beauty and hairstyle.
They were said to be the first stylists who would consider a woman’s face and features while creating a personalised hairstyle.
Signed, varnished and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

About the artist
Of all forms of art, Marian prefers to express herself through collage. Her analog compositions combine acrylic paint and oil paint, original illustrations dating from 1900 till today and three dimensional recycled components. The works, influenced by pop art, dadaism and surrealism, show originality and freshness.
