Abstraction Nr.1

“Abstraction Nr.1”
May, 2021

Abstraction Nr.1 is a mixed media composition on 80 x 60 x 4 cm canvas.

The composition combines acrylic painting with a black and white transfer collage.
To this background, four paper images are added.

The basic composition is spontaneous, with passionate and warm colours that are roughly painted.
This forms the background of a surreal scenery in which female figures are placed.
The artwork is puzzling and intriguing, yet the feeling it brings is bright and positive.

A cut out from a French vintage film magazine from the 1950’s show the legs of film star Danielle Darieux.
The upper body is replaced by a butterfly; illustration from ‘Les plus beaux insects’,  a 1958 edition of the Librairie Larousse.

Two headless ladies are from French magazine ‘L’Echo de la Mode’, 1957.

The billboard photo is a detail of Laurence Sackman’s photo as published in a 70’s Zoom magazine.

The artwork is signed, varnished and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
