Silver Iris Pendant

A pretty iris flower pendant made in recycled fine silver with a sterling silver sparkly popcorn chain, anyone who loves iris flowers will love this pendant!

The iris flower commonly means wisdom, hope, trust, and valour. The flowers can be found in a variety of temperate zones around the world, as such, its meanings have been adapted to fit various cultures.

The iris pendant has a little hidden bail on the back which the chain runs through and it is made from recycled fine silver metal clay, which is 99.9% silver.

If you have not come across metal clay before it was first created in the early 1990’s by Japan’s Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, they redesigned the manufacturing facilities they were using to refine gold for use in the microchips they produced. A while later, Dr. Masaki Morikawa, a metallurgist and the director of the new facility was inspired to create a type of modeling clay from the precious scrap left over from the manufacturing process. His experiments led to what we now know as the brand Precious Metal Clay (PMC®). There are now all sorts of metal clays available, fine silver, sterling silver, bronzes, coppers etc.!

The pendant is approximately 2.5cm high (approx. 1 inch) and 2cm wide (just over 3/4 inch) with a 46cm (18 inch) sterling silver popcorn chain.
