This farm landscape is dominated by rain laden storm clouds, which take up two thirds of composition. A stoney track, cuts through an autumn field and leads the viewer into the painting towards dense trees.

This is the Fenland landscape that surrounds the artist’s home and which he has explored, photographed and painted for over thirty years.

Christopher Witchall’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
