Town Moor Cows
One of three square paintings of Newcastle Town Moor cows designed as a triptych. In the background are the three large tower blocks on Westgate Hill. In the sky are contrails . The cows sit around and chew the cud. So relaxing. This painting was sold to raise funds for the campaign to Save the Town Moor at Leazes Park from Newcastle United Football Club’s plans to dig up the moor for the coal underneath and build a new mega football stadium and underground car park on the land. We won I’m happy to say but it was a dirty campaign from the club in close and corrupt alliance with the city council. Sometimes the little guys win.
