26 Drawings
Created in the same period as An Alphabet for Alina —a necessity, as it was for Alina’s twin sister— 26 Drawings is in three sections: “Out of the crowd” titled from Shelley’s poem “Epipsychidion”, a sequence mostly involving couples; “Down by the seaside”, drawing on everything from the palms and path lights of resort hotels to the poisonous manchineel tree of the Caribbean; and “One Star Remains in Bright Darkness (a line from a Judee Sill song), covering a range of uncertain incidents and questionable characters and including a homage to the great New Zealand painter Rita Angus.
