Bebeto

The title is a word that fits the shape phonetically.

Search the internet for the word Bebeto and you will see images of a long twisted pencil like sweet.
They are full of sugar, colourants and preservatives, but I really like them.

This sculpture is a candy that you cannot eat, an after impression of the experience of chewing a Bebeto sweet. It has a simple striped appearance which accentuates it’s changing shape. A child’s thing and the adult joy of pushing a material around to show a convoluted form in a simple way.

Imagine the changing shape of something as you chew it, it is a really complex change from one moment to the next. Perhaps you could think of this piece as the change in shape of the Bebeto sweet that takes place in the very first second.
