A lovely unique pair of Dumortierite teardrop earrings on arched recycled sterling silver ear fittings. Dumortierite is a new stone to me but I thought how pretty these look, the way the blue bleeds into the white and some parts are almost translucent and almost crystal like, very pretty! I wanted an earring fitting that showed off the lovely stone and didn’t detract from it so I made these elegant arched ear wires in recycled sterling silver.

With dumortierite being named after French palaeontologist Eugène Dumortier, the correct way of saying the name is thought to be dumor~ti~air~rite. This seems logical considering the surname of this person would have been pronounced dumor~ti-air.

When used for its healing properties dumortierite is said to be beneficial for patience and slowing down aggravated and irritable energies. It can also be used to calm excitable behaviour and stubbornness.

Dumortierite stimulates communication between the body’s various systems and can help with the expression of spiritual ideas and the comprehension of hidden meanings.

It helps to resolve opposing points of view and when placed on the throat chakra can encourage open communication and the desire to share advice.

The drop length of the earrings is 2cm (3/4 inch) and the length from the top of the hook is 3.9cm (1 1/2 inches) and the width is 1.2cm (1/2 inch).
