Hydrangea Petal Silver Pendant

I love hydrangea flowers and the way they go on flowering well into the autumn or fall, so I decided to make a hydrangea petal pendant to celebrate this lovely flower! These petal pendants are double sided and can be worn either way around and each one is a little different to the next so all of them are a little unique! They are made in fine silver metal clay, so they have a high silver content, 99.9% silver, sterling is 92.5%, there are a whole array of silvers going from sterling up to fine silver. The chain is a sterling silver rope chain with a carabiner clasp.

Hydrangeas have lovely sybolism too! The hydrangea represents gratitude, grace and beauty. It also radiates abundance because of the lavish number of flowers and the generous round shape. Its colours symbolise love, harmony and peace.

If you have not come across metal clay before it starts life as fine silver particles mixed with a clay binder which can be sculpted and textured and all sorts. Once it is dry it is then fired and the binder burns away leaving a solid metal piece, in the case fine silver. Metal clay comes in all sorts of metals these days, gold, silver, bronze, copper, brass, it was first created by the Japanese back in the early 1990’s.

The pendant is approximately 2.4cm high (just under 1 inch) and 2.1cm wide (just over 3/4 inch) and the rope chain is 46cm long (18 inches).
