Seymour Tower Jersey
By peter cronin
I was in Jersey taking a painting holiday for Alpha Painting Holidays and we stopped off at this spot. It was quite bright and hazy, with everything pushed almost to silhouettes. I picked up on the tower straight away (you can stay there apparently) and managed to get myself into a position where the boats stacked up nicely. I did a demonstration painting on site, which sold to a very kind student, but fancied another go at perhaps a more blued off version than my original attempt. I love the feel that a limited pallet gives, and decided to use just blues, burnt sienna and umber in the main, on Baohong rough paper. Its one of those moments in time that will change as the tide returns. Its feeling of ‘waiting’ and being paused that attracts me to such scenes.
