Kaleidoscopic Frogs
By Tim Halliday
Frogs are a rich source of food for many predators, including snakes, birds and mammals. They are typically active only at night and their skin is cryptically coloured. A few species of frogs, however, are brightly coloured and active by day. Their colours advertise that their skin contains toxic compounds that range from being distasteful to highly poisonous.
