Dad et moi

Dad et moi,
2024
Dad et moi features the portrait of my father when he was a young man.
Some pieces are replaced with parts of my own portrait as a baby.
In this piece, I explored the depths of connection and memory, juxtaposing elements of the figurative and surreal. Infusing the work with vintage tones, I aimed to evoke a sense of nostalgia and timelessness. Crafted with acrylic and collage, it’s not just a visual treat but a touchstone to the universal bond shared between those we hold dear. It’s an artwork that radiates warmth and evokes emotions deeply rooted in shared experiences and unspoken understanding.
Dad et moi, was part of the ‘Et moi, et moi, et moi’ exhibition at the Mairie d’Honneur Les Asphodèles in Saint Raphaël, France in 2024.
In this art exhibition three female artists presented their personal mythologies, trying to find the key to their true essence through their works.
My story was about my family and roots in Rotterdam.
The work was presented as a diptych with Mum et moi.
‘Dad et moi’ is a mixed media composition of transfer collages on canvasses; each canvas measures 20 x 20 cm, the components are like square pieces in a brick puzzle.
