Coeus, Iapetus, Hyperion and Crius

By Luke Farookhi

Coeus, Iapetus, Hyperion and Crius

In Greek mythology, Cronus’s four brothers supported his overthrow of their father Uranus (the sky), then supported the heavens during his rule of the cosmos. Coeus, Iapetus, Hyperion and Crius represented North, West, East and South respectively - the positions they took when holding Uranus down, and the positions they subsequently took to hold up the heavens.
