Incident at the Experimenting Works

You may be familiar with the Kirkaldy Testing Works (now museum) in Southwark, London,  where the huge machine for testing the tensile strength of materials, designed by David Kirkaldy (1820-1897),  is located.  My picture simplifies the elegant frontage and envisages a different kind of experimenting and its consequences.
