This ruined farm sits on the coast of Ballycroy.  The distant hills of Achill Island are seen across the Sound.

There is an intangible sense of sadness and melancholy in the western landscapes.  Even without the ruined farm, the soft luminous light of overcast days pulls on the emotions.  Some people feel it, some don’t.  Capturing the emotion in paint is a challenge.
