Braided Celtic Neck torc - copper

By Abby Hook

Braided Celtic Neck torc - copper

Perfect for men and women, the main body of the Torc is a rigid braided band, finished with spirals.

Torcs, also called Torq or Torque, were worn in ancient Briton and Europe, some 2000 years ago, particularly by the Gauls and Vikings. They were generally a single piece or strands of metal, twisted together, to form a large, rigid ring.

The braided pattern of this torc is created by hand plaiting the wire. The neck piece is then hand forged and hammered to create an attractive pattern, this also makes the structure very strong. I have formed overlapping spirals at each end.

The Torc is 1/4” wide with an inner circumference of 16” including the 1” gap.
