Neck Torc - Textured Copper, Celtic and Viking Torq or Torque - small

Neck Torc - Textured Copper, Celtic and Viking Torq or Torque - small
Torcs, also called Torq or Torque, were worn in ancient Briton and Europe, some 2000 years ago, particularly by the Gauls and Vikings. They were generally a single piece or strands of metal, twisted together, to form a large, rigid ring.
This understated, stylish neck torc is made with copper wire, which I have hand forged, hammering the ends and center of the piece, creating a tapered widening on these sections. I have then hammered a textured detail over the whole piece to finish this sleek design.
The Torc has an inner circumference of 16 1/2”, including the 1 3/4” gap and measures 1/8” at it’s widest point at the front.
